Lady Mustangs look to continue strong play

After nearly a week off from action, the Madisonville Lady Mustangs volleyball team (20-13) squared off at home against a conference foe in the Fairfield Eagles last week, falling 3-0. Fairfield won the first game, 25-22. The Lady Mustangs kept it close, but fell again in the second and third game, 26-24 and 25-22.

However, the Mustangs bounced back Friday night in Athens as they defeated the Hornets in three games, 26-24, 25-12 and 25-18.

“We played well,” said Head Coach Melissa Padgett after the Mustangs’ dominant performance Friday. “I’m very confident moving ahead.”

The Mustangs continue their strong play as they faced off against the Mexia Black Cats Tuesday is district play.

“Mexia is tied with us for second in district; so games like these are good for us,” Padgett said.

The Lady Mustangs’ next home game is Friday at 7 p.m.
