After a dominant performance against Palestine less than two weeks ago, the Madisonville softball team has stumbled into a slump.
Due to lack of offense and a couple defensive errors, the Lady Mustangs lost to Fairfield Tuesday afternoon 15-2, then turned around and lost to Athens Friday night, 14-4.
Jai Serguiff led Madisonville’s offense against Fairfield going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Averie Sims had a double and Rhainy Williams had a RBI.
Delilah Dodson stepped up against Athens going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Serguiff contributed to the offense as well, hitting a double and driving in one run. Brooke Gatlin also had a RBI.
Dodson, Gatlin and Serguiff have the leading batting averages for the Lady Mustangs. Gatlin is leading the team with a .458 batting average, Serguiff is second with a .404 average and Dodson has a .333 average.
Madisonville will look to get back into the winners’ column Thursday on the road in Palestine. Opening pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
