The Lady Mustang volleyball team is off to a rocky start but will be “battle tested and hungry for a championship when district rolls around,” according to Head Coach Melissa Padgett.
During a tournament in Centerville last week, the girls lost to Fairfield in three.
“It was a tough game,” Padgett said. “We won the first set, they won the second, and the third was to 15 with a 17-point cap. We lost set three, 16-17.”
The Lady Mustangs went on to beat Normangee in two to move to the consolation bracket. They then lost to Cayuga in the gold bracket for consolation in three.
“After winning the first set, we had a key player, Lexi Leveston, go down with an ankle sprain in the second set and could not recover without our middle blocker,” Padgett said. “It was a tough loss but we’re still showing a lot of improvement.”
