Madisonville never trailed but waited until the final minutes to put Mexia away for good with a 62-52 victory Tuesday night. The Lady Mustangs (25-3 overall) finished 8-0 in District action with the victory.

Madisonville led by 23, with 7:26 to go, but Mexia rallied to cut the deficit to 10, 62-52 with 1:13 left. The Mustangs would not allow another point the rest of the game, closing out the Black Cats with a wire-to-wire win.
Tra’dayja Smith led the way, scoring 26 points and dishing out three assists while Lexi Leveston added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Zanavia Lewis had eight points and three steals and Shakayla Burns had six points and eight rebounds. Tylesia Roundtree came off the bench and added five points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
