Last week of school features concert

Posted

The Christmas concert for elementary school children in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade will be Thursday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. The concert will be at the Iola Elementary school gym. Students are encouraged to wear their “Christmas best.” This concert is adorable and the kids work so hard to learn the songs and dance moves. I highly recommend this concert. It can put even the biggest scrooge in the mood for the holidays.

•Thank you to the PTO for the adorable pictures with Santa Claus. My kids get so excited every year about him coming specifically to our school.

•With winter here along comes many viruses and sicknesses. If your child has been or is currently sick, please keep them home. The rule is 24 hours fever-free. The school has taken extra precautions of spraying disinfectants several times a day but they need your help to keep all the students and staff healthy.

•On Jan. 13, there will be a concert series at Main Street Market. The concert will start at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m. Main Street Market is hosting a free concert featuring two different musical acts for your entertainment.

Main Street Market will start out the evening with Brea and Daniel. They are an engaged couple who have been singing since they were both 7 years old. This musical duo are a fabulous mix of pop and folk. The featured entertainment will be Austin Upchurch. He is a singer/songwriter from Godley. Upchurch has been influenced by numerous genres and through that has created a beautiful blend of Red Dirt music. Armed with a mix of cover songs old and new, as well as originals, you are sure to find a tune to sing along with.

No children younger than a freshman in high school will be permitted. Concession foods, sodas, water, homemade desserts and coffee will be available for purchase. This event is BYOB; no underage drinking will be tolerated and IDs can be checked at any time.
