Lloyd Andrew Hemphill Courtney, of Bedias, passed away on Sept. 22, 2017, at the age of 29. He was born on July 8, 1988, in Houston, to Gerald William Jr. & Leslie Rebecca “Becky” (Hemphill) Courtney.
Drew Courtney lived most of his life in Bedias and was a 2006 graduate of Madisonville High School. He worked for the City of Madisonville in the water department. He was happiest when he was fishing and cooking bar-b-que.
Drew was a man that loved his family. He was a great son, father, brother, husband and friend. He made friends wherever he went, and he was always taking care of people. Friends of childhood became brothers, and first loves of two wonderful women became mothers to his children. He always talked about moving away but his heart was with family.
Drew’s heart was golden. He will be missed by all. The world is a sadder place without his laughter and kindness. Drew had that smile that could light up the entire room and anyone’s face no matter what mood they were in. No matter how hard times got, he was everyone’s rock that held everything together.
Surviving family members include father, Gerald Courtney of Houston; mother, Becky Courtney of Bedias; wife, Deborah Courtney of Bedias; son, Levi Andrew Courtney of Bedias; daughter, Hannah Michelle Courtney of Bedias; Hannah’s mother, Michelle Cawley of Centerville; brothers, Joshawah, Gabriel & Harper Courtney of Alvin; sisters, Sarah Courtney of Bedias and Elizabeth Courtney (Erik Bennett) of Madisonville; and niece, Zoey Bennett.
Memorial Services for Drew will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bedias.
