Charles Turner is a man with many skills, but his favorite thing to do is help others.
Turner currently serves as Madison County’s Precinct 2 constable and is seeking re-election on the March 1 ballot.
Constables serve as the chief law enforcement officers for Justice of the Peace courts and have the same authority as any licensed peace officer. Although ultimately they report to the governor’s office, Turner said his bosses are the people who elected him.
“I like getting out and visiting with folks,” he said. “Sometimes they need someone to vent to. I try to help them but if nothing else, I can just listen.”
Turner moved to Madison County in 1979 and operated a welding business for 30 years. He is married with two daughters, five grandchildren, a dog and a horse.
