We are soon to see our 4-H, FFA and FCCLA students enter and compete in many contests in the Madison County Youth Fair.
This fair is organized and ran by volunteers that make up the Madison County Fair Association which supports our youth in training and teaching them many life skills such as responsibility, reliability, professionalism through showmanship, honor and integrity. They learn these skills through creating and making Family and Consumer Science projects, arts and crafts, and raising animal projects.
We promote these projects because they offer the same opportunities as organized sports within the schools both during their school career and the scholarships available upon graduation. Learning leadership skills through record keeping and interviews these youth gain valuable experiences that help them to overcome adversity and give them a greater chance to become successful members of society as they continue to grow.
It takes an entire community across this great county to support the fair and the youth involved. Many businesses sponsor the fair as well as participate in the Premium and Freezer sales as well as the FCS sale. These sales bring funds back to the youth through auctions and help the kid's to continue the next year in their quest for improvement and success.
The fair is fun for all who participate, whether you are involved in a contest, or are a buyer, or just a supportive patron coming to enjoy the show. We hope everyone will come out to support our youth.
The fair begins with the Art, Photography and Handcraft show on March 3 followed by the Food Show March 10. Opening Ceremonies will be March 15 at 6:30 p.m. The rodeo is March 16-17. The Livestock Show begins March 17 through March 22 and ends March 23 and 24 with the Premium, Freezer and Scholarship auctions. For a full schedule of events visit their website at MCFA.net
We hope to see you out there and look forward to showcasing the youth's hard work through their projects. For more information on the Madison County Fair please visit the website at MCFA.net or call our office at (936) 348-2234.
