Madisonville Band earns high honors at UIL competition


On Saturday, February 4, the Madisonville Band travelled to A&M Consolidated High School to compete in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. 

Within the contest, students were able to compete as a soloist or small group ensemble. The Madisonville Band sent 40 students to compete in 23 different events. Students who qualified for the State-wide competition will compete again on Memorial Day weekend in May for a State recognized title. The band received 5 “Division 2” ratings and 18 Division 1 ratings. 

Madisonville’s Band Directors are proud to announce that of the 19 students seeking to qualify for the State UIL competition, ALL 19 qualified! Below is a list of personal awards received:

Soloists who earned Division 1 Rating:  Tanshia Debose, Jonathan Palomino, Daniel Saldana, Brianna O’Brien, Josue Hernandez, Kassidee Wray, Jenny Penoloza, Courtney Ramirez, Harmony Schmidt, Korbin Stewart  

Soloist who earned a 1 Rating & Qualified for State: Charlie Le 

Ensembles who earned Division 1 Rating: Clarinet Trio – Evie Rickard, Sarah Binch, Julio Lopez
