The Madisonville boys’ golf team continues to shoot well after taking first place in the Troup Invitational held at Pine Springs golf course.
After finishing with a 326 the week prior in Tyler, the Mustangs carded a 289 on Friday, shooting one over par to win the tournament.
“I thought the golfers fired their best round of the year,” said coach Kevin Gracie. “Our team is making progress at the right time leading up to district.”
The Mustangs defeated second place Troup by a combined seven strokes and third place White Oak by a combined 30 strokes.
Individually, Madisonville golfers Sam Bennett shot a 36, Tae Bennett shot a 73, Bryce Bennett and Ben Phillips both shot a 77, respectively. Brylen Mills shot an 80, Jordan Prescott shot an 86 and Tye Conger shot a 123.
The Troup Invitational was Madisonville’s first tournament win of the season. The Mustangs will play at Ravens Nest Mar. 31 – Apr. 1.
