Madisonville soccer wins 2 on the road, back home Friday


It was a fast and furious start for the Madisonville boys’ soccer team against Hempstead Wednesday. The Mustangs jumped out to a 7-0 lead at halftime and won by a final of 9-0.

“I thought we played very effective on offense and defense on both ends of the field,” Madisonville Coach Baltazar Reyes said. “I’m proud of the boys, they work hard in practice and try their best in every game. We still have room for improvement, but [the team] is getting better everyday.”

Goals were scored by Luis Aceves, Jose Ibarra, Christian Martinez, Jesus Martinez, David Parras, Christian Quiroz and Noe Rodriguez. Assists were credited to Jose Ibarra, Christian Martinez, David Parras, Ellis Reyes and Bayron Veliz.

The Mustangs defeated Crockett Friday on the road 5-1. Goals were scored by Aceves, Martinez amd Veliz and assists were credited to Aceves, Hernandez, Martinez and Veliz.

Madisonville improved to 11-1 on the season with one tie.

The Mustangs will host Shepherd at home Friday at 7 p.m.
