Marcella Nealy-Winters was born to the proud parents of Elijah and Bessie Nealy on December 28, 1924. The Lord gently called her home Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at the ripe age of 91. She was the oldest of four siblings, all who preceded her in death. They were Loouola Nealy, Carnell Nealy, Froncel Nealy, and Darnell Nealy. She was married to Leon Winters for more than 30 years. Together, they bore three sons named Kenneth Winters, Stanley Winters, and Trent Winters (Trent preceded Marcella in death).
Marcella attended Jack Yates High school in Houston, Texas, Prairie View, and San Francisco State University. She was baptized at the age of 12 and was faithful unto death. She worked as a counselor, for the post office and retired from U. C. Berkeley as a lab assistant.
She leaves behind her remaining sons, Kenneth Winters of Oakland, Calif. and Stanley Winters and his wife Debra of Roseville, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Venus Winters, of Oakland, Calif.; Rachel Winters, Stanley Winters Jr. and wife Monica Winters, Elijah Winters, Joshua Winters, Isaiah Winters, Jeremiah Winters and Jonathan Winters, all of Roseville, Calif.; three great-grandchildren Brandon Williams, Brian Williams and Brendell Williams; one great-great granddaughter, Djuana Marie Williams. In addition, she left behind many close friends and relatives.
A memorial service was held Nov. 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Parkway Church of Christ in Sacramento, Calif. Marcella Winters was laid to rest at Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights, Calif.
