The cause of a fire at the Bimbo Bakeries storehouse on Industrial Boulevard on Thursday has been classified as undetermined.
Madisonville Fire Chief Thom Jones said the fire, which was first reported at about 9 a.m. July 7, started in a Dumpster on the property.
The department responded with an engine, and later called for mutual aid from the Midway Fire Department for manpower.
“It looks like a Dumpster caught on fire which was underneath the eave of the building,” Jones said. “The cause is undetermined.”
That fire in turn jumped to the eave of the structure, and then got into the building, and firefighters put out spot fires on the inside.
Jones said the blaze damaged metal around the Dumpster and blackened walls on the inside.
“All the product left in the building was damaged by smoke, but there wasn’t a whole lot,” Jones said.
