On Aug. 6, there will be a community-wide event to celebrate the 2017 football season as well as the UIL-approved practice at 12:01 a.m., Monday. There will be tailgating and events, such as a seven-on-seven football game and a field goal kicking contest. The will be a maroon-out event, so please show your Bulldog spirit by wearing all maroon.
The schedule includes: 9 p.m. tailgating will begin, along with the sign-up for washers and horseshoes (there is a $5 dollar sign up fee per person.) Sign-up for dummy roping costs $1 per child. There will also be a sign-up for old timers seven-on-seven if needed if spots are not full as well as well as the field goal kicking competition with a $5 fee. Also, there is free face painting. The silent auction will begin and a free sign creating table. Sign-up for adopt-a-bulldog for $35, and the selling of bulldog spirit pom-poms ($3) and popcorn.
At 9:15 p.m. the field goal kicking competition will begin. This will be broken down in four age brackets of 35 and older, graduates-34, eighth grade through high school (no high school football players), and third through seventh grade. The winner will receive half the pot in each age group. Washers, horseshoes and roping dummy will also take place at this time and the winners will get half of the pot.
At 10 p.m. the old timers’ seven-on-seven game will start for 35-plus. The graduate-34 seven-on-seven game will begin at 10:30 p.m. Team signing of fan footballs (please bring your own football) and Little Bulldog/Big Bulldog pictures will also be at 10:30.
At 11 p.m. will be the introduction of cheerleaders and coaches. The cheerleaders will teach their cheers. At 11:15 p.m. there will be a pep talk by old timers, and at 11:45 p.m. there will be an introduction of volleyball players/coaches and football players/coaches.
At 12:01 a.m. the football players may take the field for the first practice of 2017 football season.
Become a Little Bulldog: If you have pre-K-sixth grader, they can adopt a varsity football player. The cost will be $35 and your little will get a T-shirt with many other benefits. On away games the littles will give a treat to the bigs and on home games the bigs will give a treat to the littles. There will be at least two planned events for the bigs and littles to interact as well as seeing them at games, pep rallies, around school and in the community. There will be a time before each home game that the littles get to run the field and then create a spirit line for the boys when they take the field. Forms will be available at the Midnight Madness event.
