The Madisonville Mustangs’ powerlifting team competed on the road Saturday in the Normangee Invitational where they finished in third place.
“Some of the boys’ totals went up while a few others crashed and burned, but not without giving maximum effort,” Coach Olvera said after the meet. “The boys are working hard and several improved their totals with personal bests.”

Nathan Chappell finished fifth, lifting 860 pounds in the 148-pound weight class and Joey Mclver finished first, lifting 1,250 pounds in the super heavy division.
