The Madisonville powerlifting team competed in its third invitational of the season Thursday in Fairfield.
“This competition provided our boys with an opportunity to compete against some great lifters,” said Head Coach Lu Olvera. “The boys are improving their weight totals weekly due to their loyalty of working out in the morning before school, working during their athletic period and showing up again in the weight room after school to complete their day,” said Coach Olvera.
Desmond Walls placed second, lifting 820 pounds total in the 132-pound weight class. Colby Sheppard placed fourth, lifting 765 total pounds in the 132-pound weight class. Joey Mclver also finished fourth, lifting 1,200 total pounds in the super heavy weight class and Jonathan Boone placed fifth, lifting 750 pounds in the 132-pound weight class.
The Mustangs will return to competition Feb. 9 on the road in Waller.
