The Madisonville Mustang baseball squad finished strong last Friday with an easy 8-1 home win over Fairfield. The Mustangs had 9 hits in the victory. Sam Bennett, Kasey Williamson and Zach Poe had two hits each. Bennett scored three times, while Poe doubled twice and drove in two runs. Mustang pitchers were stubborn as well. Four pitchers combined on a one-hitter, and Fairfield’s only score was a meaningless run in the top of the seventh. Matt Rudis went three innings, striking out six, while Bryce Bennett threw two innings and struck out three. Kasey Williamson and Zach Poe each threw an inning. With the win, Madisonville finishes in second place in District 18 play, with a 6-2 record. The Mustangs are 21-5 overall and now prepare for the upcoming playoffs.
