Mustangs set for Homecoming game

The 1-4 Madisonville football team is looking to bring its four-game losing streak to a halt, as the Mustangs host Rusk at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Festivities have been held throughout the week leading up to Friday night’s Homecoming game. A parade and carnival were held Wednesday night, and a district-wide pep rally is set for 1:40 p.m. Friday.

A Homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime Friday night, joining the king, who was set to receive his title at Wednesday night’s event.

Members of the 2016 Homecoming Court include queen candidates Tyana Brown, Audra Crocker, Lexi Leveston, Karla Villagrana and Tra’Dayja Smith; king candidates Jose’ Vera, Dornell Crist, Ellis Reyes and Darren Blakley; junior princess Shelby Ward, sophomore princess Cheyanne Snook and freshman princess Jaliyah Matthews.

And while the Homecoming festivities are sure to draw a crowd, all eyes will be on the football field as the Mustangs kick off after a dismal 56-13 loss to Lorena last week.

Last week’s game was preceded by losses to Crockett (45-14), Caldwell (54-36) and Woodville (28-14). The Mustangs won their season opener vs. Diboll, 11-8.
