The Mustang baseball team won three at the Franklin tournament last week, bringing their overall record to 6-8.
Madisonville bested Teague, 11-4, in their first game of the tournament, followed by 5-1 win over Rogers, a 9-2 win over Taylor and a 7-4 loss to Franklin.
Kasey Williamson pitched the Teague game and had eight strikeouts. Zach Poe had two hits and Ben Phillips had three RBI. The Mustangs had 11 runs, nine hits and no errors in five innings of play.
In the Rogers game, the Mustangs had five runs, seven hits and two errors. Despite the Eagles having six hits and no errors, they were no match for Madisonville’s Zach Poe.
Poe and Darren Blakley each had a pair of hits, with Poe taking one walk and knocking in two runs. Kyle Poe was on the mound and earned five strikeouts for the Mustangs.
Madisonville had a big sixth inning during its game vs. Taylor, scoring five runs and winning 9-2. The Mustangs had nine hits and one error, while Taylor had four hits and four errors. Ben Phillips and Darren Blakley each had a pair of hits, while Sam Parrack led the team in RBI with five. Pitcher Bryce Bennett had six strikeouts.
In the final game of tourney play, Franklin defeated Madisonville 7-4 with Sam Parrack on the mound. The Mustangs outhit Franklin, with seven hits to Franklin’s five. Franklin had a big first inning, scoring six points right off the bat, and the Lions were able to hold on to the lead.
The Mustangs played Waco Robinson on Tuesday and host a double header vs. Giddings starting at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The Madisonville softball team beat the Diboll Lady Jacks 11-0 on Friday.
Senior Jewel Smith pitched the entire game and allowed just one hit.
Delilah Dodson led the Lady Mustangs with six RBI and three home runs. Brooke Gatlain led in stolen bases while Smith delivered five strikeouts.
“The Lady Mustangs had a great week,” said Coach Miranda Butts, noting that Madisonville beat Navasota’s Lady Rattlers 11-1 earlier in the week.
The Lady Mustangs kicked off district on Tuesday at Fairfield and will travel to Groesbeck on March 22.
