The Mustang varsity track team took home first place in the sprint relay March 3 at a meet in Coldspring.
Relay team members included R’Kelian Wiley, Johnny Simpson, Lorenzo Tucker and Cornelius Merchant.
The same teammates scored third place in the 800-meter relay.
Wiley got first place in the long jump with a 20-foot leap, and Merchant was awarded seventh place.
Chris Scott got seventh place in shot put.
Wiley scored third place in high jump, while Jawan Lewis got sixth place.
The varsity team placed sixth overall out of 13 teams, according to Coach Russell Smith.
The junior varsity sprint relay team, composed of Kendall Moffett, Deonte McAdams, Ty Young and Reyshawn Moore, scored fifth. The same boys placed sixth in the 800-meter relay.
Moffett placed eighth in the 100-meter dash. Tommy Holiday placed seventh and Cody Cole was eighth in the 400-meter race.
Gabe Coleman placed first in the 800 meters and 3,200 meters while Martin Cardona took home fifth place in the 800-meter dash.
The Mustangs placed fifth (Young), sixth (Marcus Dorman) and seventh (Moore) in the 110-meter hurdles. Dorman also took home third place in 300-meter hurdles.
Moffett placed second in the long jump, while Anthony Morning placed fourth. Moore took home second place in the triple jump.
