Mustangs win one, lose one, tie one

The Mustang baseball team fell to Waco-Robinson last week in a 12-2 loss but picked up a win and a tie in a doubleheader vs. Giddings on Thursday.

The team is now 7-9-1.

During the March 15 game vs. Waco, the Mustangs had two runs, six hits and one error – no match for Waco-Robinsons’ 12 runs, 17 hits and no errors.

Mustang Darren Blakley started out on the mound and was relieved by Kasey Williamson.

In the first game of the doubleheader vs. Giddings, the Mustangs outhit the Buffaloes but the game ended in a 3-3 tie after eight innings of play.

Kyle Poe and Sam Parrack pitched, while shortstop Williamson led the team in hitting.

Head Coach Justin Grimes said the pitching picked up in the 2-1 victory over Giddings on Thursday, with Bryce Bennett on the mound. The Mustangs had eight hits and no errors, while the Buffaloes had three hits and no errors. Zach Poe, Kyle Poe and Sam Parrack each had a pair of hits for Madisonville.

Madisonville Traveled to Groesbeck on Tuesday and will host Mexia Thursday at 7 p.m.

Lady Mustangs

The Lady Mustangs beat Fairfield 9-0 in seven innings on March 15.

Madisonville Traveled to Groesbeck on Tuesday and will host Mexia Thursday at 7 p.m.
