North Zulch falls at home

One bad inning cost the Lady Bulldogs big time in their 8-5 non-conference loss to Lovelady at home Friday afternoon.

Besides a nightmarish third inning, North Zulch looked like the team to beat, but couldn’t overcome a five-run third inning by the Lions, in which three were unearned.

“We played well six out of seven innings,” said head coach Greg Horn. “In one inning we had four errors, giving up five runs.”

Shelby Harkrider started for the Lady Bulldogs but was pulled in the top of the third and was credited with two earned runs. Senior pitcher Robin Diserens came in to finish the game.

“I thought Shelby pitched well to start and Robin did well to close it,” said Horn.

Raegan VanCour led the North Zulch offense with one triple and two singles. Emma Baker went 2-for-3 and Ally Grier went 1-for-2 with two walks.

“I also thought Cassidy Brown played well defensively on third and in left field,” added Horn.

The Lady Bulldogs will look to get back on track Thursday on the road in Snook. Opening pitch is set for 6 p.m.
