The North Zulch girls’ basketball team is still going through some growing pains, but had the balance to get past Burton at home on Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed Burton at the half, 10-12, watching the Panthers extend their lead after three quarters to 25-19. North Zulch rallied to tie the game at 28-28, on a Robin Diserens’ layup with 2:03 left in the fourth.
Junior point guard Emma Baker tied the game again at 30-30, with a pair of clutch free throws with 1:20 remaining.
Megan Massey scored the go-ahead basket with less than a minute to go in regulation as the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Panthers, 34-30.
“We kept fighting,” said Head Coach Marshall Earnhart. “That’s what we want from the girls – that never-give-up attitude.”
Baker led the way, scoring 10 points. Diserens finished with eight points, Massey had seven points and Reagan VanCour added six points.
North Zulch is set to play Friday on the road in Snook. Tipoff is for 5 p.m.
