North Zulch loses to Centerville

Tied for second in district play, the North Zulch Bulldogs controlled their own destiny heading into last Friday’s matchup against the Centerville Tigers.

With a win the Bulldogs would advance to play Kennard but with a loss they would face Crossroads in the bi-district round.

“It’s basically up to us,” said Head Coach Greg Horn prior to Friday’s matchup. “We tend to play better against better teams, for some reason – so this will be a good test for us.”

If a test is what the Bulldogs wanted a test is what they got Friday night falling to Centerville in four games 32-30, 14-25, 11-25, 16-25.

“We played well on the back row digging and keeping the ball in play,” Horn said. “But we had no answer up front for their quick offense which caused us to play out of system most of the game offensively.”

Despite the loss on Friday night the Bulldogs head into bi-district this week with optimism.

“As always any team we meet in the playoffs will be a top-notch team,” Horn said. “We are focusing on our strengths.”
