North Zulch resident earns degree from WGU Texas

AUSTIN – Melissa Radde of North Zulch received her bachelor of science in nursing from WGU Texas. The university held its fifth annual commencement ceremony in Austin on Sept. 17 and celebrated the graduation of 1,263 students, representing more than 300 cities in more than 100 counties across Texas.

At the commencement, the state-based university honored 808 undergraduates and 455 graduates who have completed their degrees in business, information technology, K-12 teacher education, and healthcare

professions, including nursing. Manny Flores, CEO and Managing Partner of LatinWorks, delivered the commencement address.

Thirty-nine percent of this year's graduates represent the first generation in their family to complete college. Including this year's graduating class, WGU Texas has more than 5,380 alumni to date with a current enrolled student body of over 8,000.

WGU Texas is the state-endorsed affiliate of nationally-recognized

Western Governors University (WGU). Designed to meet the needs of busy working adults, WGU Texas' competency-based model makes it possible for students to set their own study schedules and move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn. While

WGU's online degree programs are rigorous and challenging, adult learners

are still able to earn their degrees without sacrificing work, family, and financial obligations. As a result, many students are able to accelerate their studies, finishing faster and saving money.
