The North Zulch softball team outscored Iola 6-3 in a dominating performance at Bulldog Ballpark last Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs led wire to wire jumping out a quick 3-0 start as pitcher Robin Diserens dominated the mound.
Diserens threw all seven innings, scattered five hits, stuck out nine batters, and walked five. And if that wasn’t enough, Diserens went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.
“She [Diserens] gets stronger as the game goes on,” North Zulch coach Greg Horn said.
Emma Baker went 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs. Baker’s 2-run double to left field in the bottom of sixth inning gave the Lady Bulldogs a commanding 5-0 lead.
North Zulch took a 6-0 lead into the seventh inning, with one out and the bases loaded, Diserens gave up a triple cutting the Bulldogs’ lead to three. North Zulch’s defense battled back with an out at first and Diserens’ striking out the final batter to gain the third out, ending the inning and the game.
The Lady Bulldogs return the mound Friday hosting Somerville at home. Opening pitch is set for 4 p.m.
