NZ struggles offensively

Baseball great Yogi Berra once said, “Baseball is 90 percent mental and the other half is physical.” At this point in the season, North Zulch softball coach Greg Horn is probably thinking the same thing.

The offensive struggles continued for North Zulch Tuesday afternoon as the Normangee duo of Maci Sanders and Madison Light combined on a two-hitter, propelling the Panthers to a 19-2 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

In the top of the first with two outs and Normangee leading 3-0 pitcher Robin Diserens caught a pop fly to end the inning.

North Zulch scored two runs in the bottom of the first, but wouldn’t score again as Normangee put up 11 runs in the top of the second.

Despite a pitching change the Lady Bulldogs struggled to keep runners out of scoring position as the Panthers continued their dominance at the plate, scoring four runs in the fourth inning.

“We just had a lot of errors,” said coach Horn.

North Zulch will be on the road Friday in Mumford. Opening pitch is set for 6 p.m.
