IOLA — Law enforcement officials are investigating allegations of improper conduct on behalf of an adult working in the Iola school district.
In a press release sent last week, Superintendent Chad Jones said the lola Independent School District was recently made aware of allegations that an employee of the district was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an lola ISD student.
The administration took swift action to initiate an investigation into the allegations and the employee promptly resigned, according to the statement.
Jones said Iola ISD is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, and follows all applicable laws and policies in protecting them.
Iola ISD will continue to work with the appropriate authorities to ensure that justice is served, and its students remain safe, the statement read.
The release also states the matter is under investigation by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office; however, Sheriff Don Sowell said the matter has been transferred to the District Attorney’s Office for investigation.
Calls to the District Attorney’s Office were not immediately returned.
