Tony Farkas has been named editor and publisher of the Navasota Examiner. He will assume his new duties on Aug. 1. He comes to the area from Madisonville, where he was publisher for the last two years.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Madisonville, learning to be a publisher and learning about such a vibrant community,” Farkas said. “I’m sad to leave the friends and good people I’ve met here, and I appreciate the welcome I received here.”
Farkas said he is looking forward to the new opportunities to further his career in Navasota.
Farkas replaces Brent Addleman, who is returning to Pennsylvania.
In the meantime, a search is being conducted for a replacement as publisher at the Madisonville Meteor.
“I’ll will be 100 percent involved in the search for a replacement, and will act as a mentor and guide during the transition,” Farkas said. “We will maintain the quality and standards we’ve established over the last two years.
“Anyone with questions are still encouraged to contact me, or the fine staff at the paper — April Towery and Melanie Ray,” he said.
Farkas and his wife, Tammy, have three daughters — Tori, Ella and Celi.
