Seventy-seven participants are registered for this year’s Relay for Life, American Cancer Society’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Community Manager Erin Robinson said 12 teams have registered, and more than $17,600 has been raised to date. She expects that number will rise to $20,000 by Saturday, the date of the event. Their local fundraising goal is $31,000.
Teams will conduct fundraisers at their respective campsites throughout the day.
Events will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Madison County Fairgrounds. The event was relocated from Lake Madison due to a forecast of inclement weather.
Madison County raised more than $21,000 last year.
Sixty-five participants on eight teams joined the relay, along with 20 registered survivors.
