Another game, another shutout for Madisonville pitcher Matt Rudis, as the Mustangs beat Hudson Wednesday morning, 10-0.
Rudis, pitched five of the seven innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and striking out 12 with no walks.
Madisonville led 2-0 after the second inning and broke the game wide-open scoring six runs in the third. Stolen bases from Darren Blakley, Will Hudson and Rudis, a double by Brandon Larson and Danny Young and a single by Ben Phillps sparked the Mustangs’ third inning heroics.
“I thought our team did a great job of getting after it,” said coach Keith Sitton.
Madisonville ended their two-game homestead falling to Shepherd Friday afternoon, 7-2. The game was tied at one with Hudson batting in the top of the sixth, scoring six runs in the inning to seal the game and the victory.
Madisonville’s Bryce Bennett pitched five and a third innings, giving up five runs, one hit and striking out six. Rudis and Phillips led the Mustangs with one hit each.
The Mustangs (14-3) will travel to Mexia on Friday. Opening pitch is set for 7 p.m.
