School names new superintendent

NORTH ZULCH – The North Zulch School Board on Monday named Doug Devine their sole finalist for superintendent.

Devine, who served as superintendent in Iola for 15 years, took over as the interim in North Zulch after Morris Lyon resigned in October. Devine emphasized from the get-go that he was eager to serve and willing to accept the job permanently if that was the will of the board. Since then he has consistently received positive feedback from board members and the community.

“This is a good district,” he said just a few days into his interim appointment. “I want to continue the sound educational practices and learn about what’s happening here. My philosophy is that I’m here to serve.”

Board president Charles Drake said the community is happy to have Devine on board permanently.

“The Board is very pleased with Mr. Devine’s performance to date,” Drake said. “His interaction with staff and the community coupled with his experience made it an easy decision.”
