Tap into the power of God within you

Romans 8:18-30 says, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to son ship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all.

Who hopes for what they already have?  But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.  In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”

The beginning of this passage lets us know that the sufferings we endure on this earth pale in comparison to the glorious gift we have within us as believers. God gave us His Spirit to be a Comforter and Guide. It is through that Spirit that we are able to communicate with God and it is through that Spirit that we can live our lives as His servants.

It’s very easy to get bogged down in life’s troubles. We face financial difficulties, health issues, relationship struggles, and many other problems in this fast-paced life. Before you know it, we are so engulfed with the agony of living in this world that we become distracted and forget about the powerful Spirit that is within us.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

It is through God’s Spirit that we are able to face and defeat those struggles; and, when He has delivered us through them, we are able to comfort others who are dealing with many of the same issues. Before you know it, we’ll have a whole community that relies on the powerful Spirit of God to guide and direct their lives and suddenly you’ll look around and see Christians living life the way it was intended- a life free from the chains of sin and full of the glorious riches of God’s grace.

It’s time to climb up out of the ditches of despair and hold firm to the promises of God. His Spirit has been given to us and it is more than sufficient to provide the things we need to persevere.

God is looking down right now and longing for His people to be revealed; a people who have the salvation of Christ shinning inside of them, and the power of the Spirit living through their actions.

Rise up and be the Spirit-led people we are called to be.

God bless and have a great week in the Lord.
