Died July 21, 2017, in Madisonville.

Thelma Risinger married Norman Elvis Risinger on June 16, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville. They were married 55 years. She began working at her mother’s restaurant, The Elite Café, when she was a child, and she and her husband Norman owned the Madisonville Printing Co. for many years. She later was a substitute teacher for Madisonville CISD.

Thelma was involved in many church, community, and civic organizations during her many years as a resident of Madisonville, including Young Farmers/Young Homemakers Association; Madison County Chamber of Commerce; Building Standards Committee; Madison County Fair Association; Downtown Merchants Association; Saturday on the Square; Beta Sigma Phi; Greenbrier Cemetery Association; First Baptist Church RAs; and First Baptist Church Sunday School Teacher.

Thelma was thoroughly devoted to her long-time love and husband, Norman Risinger, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, the Texas Aggies and the Madisonville Mustangs.

Thelma Risinger is survived by her husband Norman Elvis Risinger Sr.; children, Dr. Norman Elvis Risinger Jr. and Brian Lee Risinger and wife Suzanne; grandchildren, Jacob Carl Risinger, Eli Samuel Risinger, Jared Scott Risinger, Joshua Caleb Risinger and Avery Nicole Risinger; sister, Pam Bullard; and brothers, Gary Rucker, Jim Rucker and Dean Rucker Jr.

She is preceded in death by her father, G.L. McLain, and his wife Irene; her mother, Juanita Batts McLain Rucker and her husband Dean; and her brother, Gilbert McLain.

Visitation will be held at Day Funeral Home in Madisonville from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Madisonville at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 27. The Revs.Joshua Crutchfield and Lanier Stevens will officiate.

Interment will follow at Madisonville City Cemetery.
