Funeral services are scheduled for 10AM on Sunday; August 25, 2019 at Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch, TX with the burial to follow at Willowhole Cemetery. Joel Strickland will officiate.

Vera Mae (Williamson) Thomas; 100 years, 2 months, 1 day; passed away on Friday; August 23, 2019 in Bryan, TX surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for 10AM on Sunday; August 25, 2019 at Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch, TX with the burial to follow at Willowhole Cemetery. Joel Strickland will officiate.

Vera was born on June 22, 1919 in Iola, TX to Thomas and Annie Mae (Bice) Williamson. She loved dancing , going to the beach, smoking, and riding motorcycles. Later, as a devoted Christian, she dedicated her life to being a caregiver, always ready and willing to help those in need. Vera always had a hot meal ready for anyone who stopped by and took impeccable care of her mother until her mother's death.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Earnest, Aubrey, Eletha, Evelyn, Charlie, Roslyn, and Frances; her husband and father to all nine of her children, James Edgar Vernon; her daughters; Gladys Marie Vernon, Middie Irene Collard; and her sons, James Odas Vernon and Doyle Merl Vernon.

Vera is survived by her children; Lawrence Vernon (Jimmie Lou), Troy Vernon (Rose), Earl Vernon (Charlotte), Stella Darlene Burch, Vicky Shannon (John), Kathy Windom (Mike); her children she called her own; Darrell, Ronnie, and Sandy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jason Coones, Steven Lavender, Aaron Lavender, J.W. Burch, Ronnie Collard, and Robert Vernon. Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Kenny Vernon, Charles Jackel, George Collard, and Jeffery Collard.
