The Lady Bulldogs will be competing for their third state title in volleyball. The varsity volleyball team beat out North Zulch at regionals in four sets this past weekend in Longview. They will be headed to Garland, and will face Burton on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. This game will be the semifinals. If the Lady Bulldogs prevail they will play again on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Because the volleyball team is going to state, school will be let out at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and there will be no school Thursday, Nov. 16.
•I hope that everyone enjoys Thanksgiving break. May you get rest — relax and enjoy time with friends and family. School will be out beginning Nov. 18 through Nov. 26.
•Thank you to the Iola National Honor Society for hosting the second annual Veterans Day Breakfast. What a wonderful way to recognize and honor our local heroes.
•The elementary library will be hosting a book fair for kids in pre-K through sixth grade from Nov. 13 through Nov. 17. This is a great way to get your kids excited about reading and they love picking out the books themselves. Part of the proceeds will go to the library.
•Senior yearbook ads are due Dec. 21. You can go on the school’s website, Iolaisd.net, to find out more information as to ordering the page and specifications required.
•Junior varsity and varsity girls basketball will host Leon Nov. 21 starting at 5pm.
