William Stanley Grissom died in his home August 16, 2019 in North Zulch, Texas; sub-coming to the effects of colon cancer. He was 77 years old.

Stanley was born August 21, 1941 in Henderson, Texas to parents William G and Hazel Grissom. After leaving the US Army in 1962, he worked several jobs before finding his niche in operating heavy equipment and then in construction supervision.

Stan retired in 2001 to his farm in North Zulch where he gardened and played rancher passing on his love of country life to his children; teaching them to always lend a hand and the importance of community. Known affectionately as the mayor of Whispering Oaks, he always greeted new neighbors, helped with tractor work and working cattle.

He always had an ear to listen and a cold Lone Star Beer to share.

Stanley is survived by his wife Brenda Cryer Grissom, daughter Paula Harris and son-in-law Robbie Harris, son Richard Grissom, daughter Stacy Riendeau and son-in-law Marshall Riendeau, and daughter Megan West and son-in-law Cody West, along with his two younger sisters JoyceAnn Cheatham and Nora Faye Caufield, grandchildren Sydni Nelson, Chelsea Jones-Riendeau and Ciara Riendeau and great grand-children, nieces and nephews and multiple life-long friends.

He was preceded in death by his father William Gordon Grissom, mother Hazel Lorene Kuhn, brother Gordon Ray Grissom and sister Opal Ruth Ellender.

The family will have a Celebration of Life on September 14, 2019 at the Midway Community Center located at 5612 School Rd, Midway, TX 75852 at 12pm. Flowers can be sent to the family home.
