Have you found yourself being fearful and wondering what would come next? God never wanted us to live our lives in fear. He has always intended for us to be bold in our faith and secure in our living.
Proverbs 1:33 says, “But whoever listens to me will live securely and be free from the fear of danger.”
The first thing the scripture tells us to do is listen to God.
1 Corinthians 1:20-25 says, “Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made the world's wisdom foolish?
For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached. For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God's power and God's wisdom, because God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.”
It’s very clear in the passage above, that one of the ways we are to hear from God is through preaching. Pastors and teachers all over the world are praying and studying daily so that God will give them a message for the people to hear. The only problem is that most people won’t get out of their homes on Sunday morning and go hear it.
It’s vital that you attend church and hear the messages being preached. It’s one of the main ways you can hear the word and implement it in your daily living. Remember, our main scripture told us if we listen to God we can live securely and free from fear of danger.
Secure living is vital in the Christian’s life. We must know, without a shadow of a doubt that we are saved. And we must conduct ourselves in a manner that glorifies God. Again, the scripture says we must listen to Him if we are to have secure living.
The next promise He gives us is that we will live free of the fear of danger.
People all over struggle with fear. The fear of not measuring up to a group of people. The fear of not being able pay their bills. The fear of a sickness. And the list goes on and on.
Christian, you don’t have to walk around defeated by your fears. God is more than capable of carrying you through anything that comes your way. His world tells us on many occasions, “Do not fear.”
We serve a God who created the universe. We serve a God who split the red sea. We serve a God who raised the dead back to life. And we serve a God who saved us through the blood of Jesus Christ.
When you fear, you are saying God isn’t good enough. Listen to His word and know that there is nothing He can’t do. Rely on His strength when you become weak and He will raise you up from the darkness into the light.
God’s word is the same today as it was yesterday, and will be tomorrow. Listen to it and apply it in your life. Walk in the newness of life that only God can bring.
