Applications are now open for the Republican position on the November ballot to fill the vacancy of Madison County Judge vacated by the passing of the Honorable Tony Leago. Applications can be picked up at the Election Administrator’s office on the first floor of the the Madison County courthouse. Completed applications will need to be returned along with a resume to the Election Administrator’s office with interviews beginning July 23rd, 2022. Applicants will then be notified of interview dates to follow. The position will remain open until the applicant has been chosen and submitted to the Secretary of State for the position on the November ballot. Free hot dogs and snow cones were available on South State Street in Madisonville Friday, June 24. Donations were accepted at the fundraiser by the children offering the treats and on behalf of “You Are.”

Anthony “Tony” Joseph Leago; 76 years, 4 months, 26 days; of Midway TX; passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in Houston, TX. The celebration of Tony’s life is scheduled for 10 A.M. on Monday, June 27, 2022 at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 9 AM and the burial will be held at The Midway City Cemetery in Midway, TX. Dr. Burton Purvis will officiate.
