Marilyn Kay McClaskey, age 77, of Midway, Texas passed away in her home June 30, 2022. Marilyn was born February 7, 1945 to Lee & Helen (Luig) Sullivan.

Jennalyn “Jenna” Yeager; 18 years of Madisonville, TX; passed away on Monday; July 11, 2022 in Madisonville, TX. The celebration of Jenna’s life is scheduled for 10 A.M. on Friday; July 15, 2022 at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX with Bro. Matt Carey officiating. The burial will follow at Rock Prairie Cemetery in Madisonville, TX. September 14, 2003 in Bryan, TX to Jason Matthew and Jillyn “Jill” Yeager and had recently graduated from Madisonville High School.

With extreme hot weather driving record power demand across Texas, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is issuing a Conservation Appeal, asking Texans and Texas businesses to voluntarily conserve electricity, for the second time this year.

Richard Sirman has been named the new editor of the Madisonville Meteor. A native of Houston, Texas, Sirman has lived most of his life in Magnolia while attending schools in Waller. He attended Sam Houston State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English while minoring in Creative Writing. He writes poetry and short stories in his spare time. You can also find him reading classic literature, like Hemingway and Faulkner, when he’s not working on the paper or writing his works.

Residents may have noticed groups of young people around Madisonville recently. UM ARMY was here, an acronym standing for the United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by Youth. They were here a week and left Saturday, July 2.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Interstate Highway 45 service road, half a mile South of Madisonville. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that on July 8, 2022, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling northbound.
