A couple of weeks ago my wife, Sandra Woodruff, was receiving persistent phone calls from one of those “you have won a lottery” scammers, and they would not let her go or stop the phone calls.

Hispanic Texans likely largest demographic group

The U.S. Census Bureau released its latest estimate, which indicates Hispanic residents in Texas make up more of the state’s population than white residents. The new population figures from the American Community Survey indicate Hispanic Texans comprise 40.2% of the state’s population last year, while non-Hispanic white Texans made up 39.4%, as reported in the Texas Tribune.

LEAD STORY -- CREME DE LA WEIRD Ranjita Kundu of Kodameta, India, has accused her husband of stealing and selling one of her kidneys four years ago, Oddity Central reported. Kundu recently discovered after visiting the doctor that she has only one kidney; she believes that when she was treated for kidney stones four years ago, her husband secretly arranged for one of her kidneys to be removed and sold on the black market.

Special to the Meteor The Captain John McAdams Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary of Madisonville, Texas will join with more than 3,000 other DAR Chapters across the nation and abroad to celebrate the foundation of America by honoring Constitution Week, which will take place from September 17-19, 2022. The Captain John McAdams Chapter, for this week, will be giving out bookmarks with the preamble of the constitution on them to remember the sacrifice the Founding Fathers made in bringing this great document into existence.
