Turkey prices have been on the rise with Thanksgiving Day still more than a month away, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. Market forces coupled with a force of nature – avian influenza – have disrupted the supply chain and caused turkey prices to trend upward, leading to shortages for some wholesale buyers.

Dorothy Parker Graham went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, William “Forrest Graham” of 57 years. Dorothy was born on December 11, 1930 in Normangee, Texas to Earl C. And Myrtie Ethridge Parker. The family always remembered Dorothy’s birthday because it was the day her daddy would take the family out to chop down the Christmas tree.

Madison County's Tour de Madisonville

In accordance with the City of Madisonville, the NAACP hosted the Tour De Madisonville. The bicycle event last occurred in 2019 and reemerged on Saturday, October 22. The event garnered the attention of 23 bike riders, who came from other counties of Texas to ride in the county limits; also at the event were County Judge Clark Osborne, Mayor Bill Parten, City Manager Fabrice Kabona, and City Council Member Jessie Jaenicke.

Early voting underway across state

Early voting in this year’s midterm elections began Monday and continues through Friday, Nov. 4. Election Day is Nov. 8. Voters will pick the state’s next governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner and comptroller in statewide races. District races are also being held for U.S. representatives, state senators, state representatives and members of the State Board of Education. There are also ballot propositions to be decided, as well as county, school board and city races, depending on where you live. The deadline to register to vote was Oct.
