On Monday, February 6, Justin Taylor was sentenced to 35 years in prison for Evading an Officer with a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

On June 29, 2021, Officer Porter, with Madisonville Police Department, observed a black Nissan Pickup truck driving at a high rate of speed on 3000 East Main. The Officer activated their emergency lights to stop the truck. The truck failed to stop. Justin Taylor was identified as the driver.

The monthly meeting for the Madison County Retired School Personnel was held Thursday, February 2, at Fannin Oaks Golf Course and Event Center. After a fellowship time and a delicious meal catered by Walkers Cafe, Mrs. Sondra Turner Hightower gave a presentation on this year’s Black History Month theme of Resistance. Mrs. Hightower chose to begin her presentation with one of her own poems, entitled the Price of My Skin. down through the decades, she brought to our attention people, events, music, and sports, that are still instrumental in striving for freedom and equality. We are proud that Mrs. Hightower so graciously agreed to share her knowledge of Black History with us.

The North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department held its 6th Annual Chili Cook-off on 11757 5th Street, in North Zulch, Texas, on Saturday, February 4. It was a fantastic winter day with hardly any clouds in the sky during the Chili Cook-off in North Zulch; according to Wyona Ballard, the VFD estimated that 400-450 people attended the cookoff.
