As the 2024 UIL Texas Girls State Basketball Championships continue, the Madisonville Mustangs have secured two wins of the 2024 Girls BB 4A Reg. 3 & 4, becoming Area Champions over Lumberton.

Tommy Melendez and Jude Melendez, father and son, took to the Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District’s tennis courts to practice on Monday, Feb. 19, during the President’s Day holiday.

A federal judge is expected to rule quickly on the constitutionality of a Texas law about to go into effect that institutes new state penalties for illegal border crossings.

Local history often confuses me. Sometimes it seems contradictory, and I am happy when it seems logical to me.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, Keep Madison County Beautiful, the local non-profit that works to maintain a beautiful and healthy environment in the county, gathered volunteers to clean a street during frigid temperatures.

Madisonville Consolidated School District students have performed well on the 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, surpassing the state average in 16 of the 20 tested subjects. Despite the absence of the traditional A-F campus and district rating due to a pending judicial ruling and decisions from the 88th legislature.

Devin Merchant delivered a performance at the Texas Music Educators Conference in San Antonio. Selected from over 2,000 applicants across the state, Merchant was one of only four trumpeters to earn a spot in the Texas All-State Jazz Band, showcasing his talent on Saturday, Feb.
