MCISD offers substitute teacher training

Since the introduction of the Accountability Act for educators in 1996, the Madisonville Consolidated Independent School District has offered orientation training for substitute teachers. Prince Fite, the head of the substitute training program and assistant principal of Madisonville Elementary School, shared some of his insights into the program.

1937-2024 Mr. Bobby Jones Ne-Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 13, 2024, in Wimberley, Texas. He was born on April 5, 1937, in Bedias, Texas to Radford & Lucy Mae (Johnson) NeSmith. Bobby married his beloved wife, Ruby Aileen Manning, on August 9, 1958.

Madison County honors child abuse victims

On Wednesday, April 15, a ceremony was held at the Madison County Courthouse to honor the 31 children who were abused in the county this past year. The event was organized by Scotty’s House, a non-profit child advocacy center in the Brazos Valley; the event was held to raise awareness about child abuse and to recognize the resilience of young survivors.

SPECIAL TO THE METEOR Madisonville High School's UIL Academic Team proudly displays their awards after competing in the UIL Academic competition held in Bullard and Jacksonville on April 5th and 6th, 2024. The team, consisting of 10 students and four coaches, participated in various events, including Prose, Poetry, Number Sense, Ready Writing, and Lincoln Douglas Debate.
