Seven Texas counties have been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for grants for emergency work and replacement of disaster-damaged public infrastructure, after severe weather and flooding struck much of Deep East Texas, Gov. Gregg Abbott’s office reported. Counties eligible for FEMA’s Public Assistance program include Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker.

Bethany Janner has joined the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Madison County as the new 4-H Program Assistant. Janner will work with County Extension Agent Allen to grow and improve the county’s 4-H program.

1939-2024 Marie Lanham, age 85, was called home on May 18, 2024, in Madison County, Texas. Marie (as she preferred to be called) is survived by daughter, Dee Barnes, and husband, Aaron and grandson, Lawson of Normangee, TX; son, Bob Lanham and wife, Pam of Katy, TX; granddaughter, Jenny Greenlief and husband, Kiefer of Houston, TX; and sister Linda Shrimpton Connor and husband, Glenn of Normangee, TX.
