Texas Removes 1M From Voter Rolls Since 2021

Gov. Greg Abbott Monday, Aug. 26 announced that since signing Senate Bill 1 into law in 2021, Texas has removed over 1 million people from the state’s voter rolls, including people who moved out of state, are deceased and are noncitizens. That removal process has been, and will continue to be, ongoing.
Lady Mustangs Improve to 15-2

The Madisonville Lady Mustangs volleyball team has won seven of their last eight matches, improving their overall record to 15-2.
The Lady Mustangs' recent streak began with a 3-1 victory over Teague at home on Aug. 20.
At the Anderson-Shiro Tournament on Aug. 22, Madisonville won four matches in a single day.
They defeated Latexo and St. Joseph in straight sets, overcame host Anderson-Shiro 2-1, and finished with a 2-0 victory over Normangee.
TxDOT is teaming up with law enforcement to prevent drunk driving

1964-2024 Mark Allen McVey, age 59, made his grand entrance into the world on September 16, 1964, in Conroe, Texas to Marvin Monroe and Ruth Alice Dell (Morgan) McVey and made a more glorious entrance into eternity on August 21, 2024. Mark will be fondly remembered as a man who was passionate about fishing and hunting, in that order.

Madisonville High Seeks Male Mentors for Student Program

Madisonville High School launched a new initiative called Mustang Mentors, seeking local men to serve as positive role models for students. The program calls for volunteers to greet students as they arrive at school one Friday each month. Organizers are reaching out to dads, grandpas, uncles, father figures, and businessmen in the community.

Power grid again reaches record demand

The dog-day heat wave has sent power demands to new records, the Austin American- Statesman reported. With much of the state enduring an excessive heat warning, power demand peaked at 85,559 megawatts last week, breaking a record set last August.
