At last Monday’s Madisonville City Council meeting, city and county officials debated their shared services agreement amid discussions on recent budget amendments. The agreement, which allows the city to provide fire protection for the county in exchange for free use of the county jail, came under scrutiny during the meeting.

Despite multiple pundits picking them to lose by three or more scores, Madisonville was in control for the majority of Friday night’s 29-28 loss to defending 3A State Champion Malakoff. In fact, the Mustangs did not trail the Tigers until the waning seconds of the contest.
The Madisonville football team (2-1) returns home in week four to continue their stout non-district slate against the high-flying Columbus Cardinals (3-0). The matchup will highlight the school’s homecoming festivities and brings with it a special ambiance around the football program and Mustang community as a whole.
