Lady Mustangs’ soccer run ends in playoff loss

The Madisonville Lady Mustangs’ soccer season ended Friday, March 21, with a 5-2 loss to Henderson in the UIL Texas Girls Soccer State Championships at Hudson High School. Madisonville struck first when freshman forward Arianna Nacianceno scored off an assist from freshman Judith Lopez in the opening four minutes, giving the Lady Mustangs early momentum.

The Madisonville Varsity Mustangs picked up a pair of victories last week, outslugging Giddings 20-12 on Tuesday, March 18, before edging Robinson 4-3 on Friday, March 21. In Tuesday’s high-scoring affair, Izaiya Drake powered the Mustangs’ offense with five RBIs on three hits, including a two-run homer to left field in the fifth inning.

The Madisonville Varsity Lady Mustangs baseball team split their two-game series with Palestine last week, falling 10-8 on Tuesday, March 18, before rebounding with a 12-9 win on Friday, March 21. In Tuesday’s contest, Madisonville built an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning when Jayci Morris grounded out to bring home a runner.
