The current school record is 41.89, set in 2023 by Rayce Hudson, Blessing Ngene, Jeramiah Burns, and LJ Johnson.

The Madisonville Varsity Mustangs fell 9-8 to the Rusk Varsity Eagles on Thursday, April 17, despite collecting 10 hits to Rusk's seven, extending their losing streak to six games. The Mustangs put together a strong offensive effort with Izaiya Drake, Ty Dean, Cade Campbell, and Malik Kovar each collecting two hits in the contest.

The Madisonville Varsity Lady Mustangs posted a decisive 14-2 victory over Center on Friday, April 11, before falling 8-6 to Rusk in a close battle on Tuesday, April 15, bringing their overall record to 11-11 for the season.

ANDERSON — Heritage groups from across the region gathered Saturday, April 19 at the Confederate Memorial Plaza to mark its 24th anniversary, honoring the more than 1,700 Confederate soldiers from Grimes County who served in the Civil War.

Voters began casting ballots on Tuesday, April 22 for the Madisonville City Council election with early voting now open at City Hall. Early voting runs weekdays through Tuesday, April 29, with the exception of weekend days.

Recently a Meteor clipping caught my attention. From 1931 and entitled “Early Settler of Madison County Gives an Interesting Comparison of Present Times.”, it was signed by W.H. Kittrell, Sr. (1851-1934), who spent his youth in Madison County. At one time, his father owned Prairie View Plantation, where TDCJ’s Ferguson Prison Farm is now. The Texas House on April 17 passed Gov. Greg Abbott’s school-voucher bill after a years-long campaign by the governor and his allies, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Madison County will host two ceremonies for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1, continuing a tradition that dates back to America’s colonial era. The first ceremony begins at noon at the Madison County Courthouse, with a second service at 6 p.m.

The Midway City Council met on Monday, April 21, for a workshop to review budget reports and grant updates. Mayor Randal Dorman briefed council members on the status of several city projects, including a $500,000 grant through the Texas Community Development Block Grant or TXCDBG program.
